Maintaining Certification/License & Renewal

Certified welders are required to renew their CW (certified welders) license every six months. A welder must provide documentation to the American Welding Society (AWS) to show they are currently employed, and work in the same industry as stated on their license. Employees who have changed to a different welding industry, or have let their license expire, will need to be retested. Once you have completed all requirements and passed the test, their scores will be sent to the AWS. Then, you should receive your certification, along with information regarding the renewal process, in the mail.
